Biohazard cleanup in Gruetli-Laager, Tennessee

Cleanup in Gruetli-Laager: what shapes the work

The city stretches across about thirteen square miles of plateau, with the Savage Gulf gorge just to the north. Homes are spread out along State Route 108 and side roads, and most rely on wells or rural water and private septic.

Coal-era houses and newer manufactured homes sit side by side. Older plateau homes often have wood floors laid directly on joists over open crawlspaces, so a spill can reach the ground beneath the house. Checking under the floor is part of the job.
